Mafia Trilogy

2K Czech engaged us to provide animation services for the iconic MAFIA — Definitive Edition. Our role was to enhance character performance and help bring the game’s cinematic moments to life through body and facial animation based on motion capture.

Skills we used

  • MoBu mocap-based cinematic animation
  • MoBu Facial animation

The challenge

Building the right team was just the beginning. Together with the producer, we developed a rigorous testing process — not only to qualify for the project but also to set a new benchmark for animation quality. These tests evolved into a valuable training ground, helping our animators fully align with the client’s creative vision and technical standards while allowing us to track progress on both sides.

We were responsible for animating the game’s cinematics, breathing life into the characters through nuanced body and face performances that supported the storytelling and emotional depth of the scenes.

The result

For nine months, we served as the exclusive body animation vendor on MAFIA — Definitive Edition. The producer described us as “one of the best outsourcers I have ever worked with.”

We proved to be a reliable and trusted partner — capable of delivering consistent quality at scale. Our success came down to three key ingredients: rigorous testing, open communication, and mutual respect.

Wildlife Crossing (2014)

An award-winning animated short about a small but determined snail who takes on a hectic highway to reunite with the love of his life.

Directed by Noro Držiak, with Anthony Wong (Pixar) leading animation direction, Wildlife Crossing! brought professional production and training together in a collaboration between Three Bohemians and ANOMALIA.

The film’s character animation was developed as part of a real production environment, with professional animators working alongside emerging talent under the guidance of experienced industry artists.

The result was a six-minute CG short that went on to receive international recognition, including a Vimeo Staff Pick, Best Comedy for Children at Animayo, and Best Animation Film at the International Animday Awards.

Poutnik Short Film (2015)

A CG short that deliberately leaves the polished 3D look behind.

Created in collaboration with director Keith Lango (Portal, Team Fortress 2, The Wingfeather Saga) — an award-winning animator and animation director whose career spans Valve, Blur, Reel FX and other leading studios — together with ANOMALIA and Three Bohemians, Poutník became an experiment in finding a different visual language for CG animation.

Built around simplicity, strong silhouettes and the character of hand-drawn 2D, the project brought professional production and education together to develop a custom approach to animation, rigging and rendering.

The result: 3D animation that looks and feels hand-drawn.
